I have just finished reading your book, and am amazed at how much it allows me to make sense of current middle east conflicts, bearing in mind that things have now moved on even from your revised edition. In particular it has enabled me to see how much British news media collude with British governments to conceal the truth of our motives, and how undemocratic all British governments have been in dealing with the region. Thank you for this valuable insight; I only wish your work was more widely studied, especially by politicians and journalists …… though reading wouldn’t necessarily change THEIR slants on events.

An excellent review of this book has appeared the progressive Indian magazine Frontline under the tilte “Islamist Proxies: The story of how Britain has, for decades, consistently undermined secular forces in the Arab world and colluded with radical forces to maintain its place in the global financial order)
